TATTOO CARE

24 hOURS BEFORE YOUR session

Hello friend. I am so excited for session tomorrow. Here are a few things to note before we get started, I want to set us both up success. Please give a quick read to some of the do’s and don’ts that will ensure we have the best possible tattoo session together. These few things will make the outcome better for us both. Take care of yourself, your body and your mind. Please be on time for your appointment or give your artist notice of delays. See you soon!

EAT + HYDRATE

Make sure to eat well and hydrate ahead of your appointment. This ensures that the skin is ready. If dehydrated, it will be less comfortable and your skin will definitely not be happy. This will help to avoid dizziness and fainting. A full belly will help prevent fainting and keep you relaxed/docile. Please bring some water and snacks.

SHAVE THE AREA

We will do a quick shave before your session, with a single use disposable razor. This will avoid hairs getting stuck between the needles. If you are very hairy please us clippers first. We both know that your razor at home is better than a disposable so let’s help each other out, if possible.

bring appropriate clothing

Please bring appropriate clothes. Depending on what we are doing you will need to bring some shorts, crop tops, tank tops, boob tape & socks. Whatever makes you feel comfortable with exposing the area we will be working on. Also bring some warmer layers in case you get cold. White is not he best colour choice for obvious reasons but to each their own.

DON’T DRINK Alcohol

It’s not because I don’t want to deal with the drunk version of you. (Which I don’t) Drinking 24 hrs before a tattoo will thin your blood and make you more prone to bleeding. Being hungover in any form will make this much more difficult for us both. So let us take another approach and make this as smooth as possible. Tattooing is healing process.

communication is key

Please let your tattoo artist know ahead of time if you are prone to fainting, hate needles (I know that sounds weird) if you get really hangry. If you need a break for whatever reason, please don’t hesitate to ask. Breaks are essential, and even a few minutes away from the provess for you or myself can make the world of difference.

allow for extra time

Please allow for extra time. This is a slow and steady process. Neither one of us should feel rushed. The results will show. We may need extra time moving around the stencil (never feel odd about asking your artist to move the stencil, this is the only temporary part of the process and its normal to make adjustments)Sometimes we get if first try, and sometimes it takes more finesse. The tattoo might also just take more or less time than originally expected. So please be flexible with that.

AVOID MOISTURIZER OR PRODUCTS

We’ll be cleaning the area anyways, so make sure to avoid any oils or topicals. Some moisturizers as can clog your pours. We’ll be using a lovely cream throughout the tattoo to help with glide.

DON'‘T TAKE ANY BLOOD THINNING MEDICATIONS

Please don’t take any blood thinning medications or painkillers. It leads to complications and will make you more prone to fainting. I know it’s easy to think that self sedation is the way to go, but honestly breathwork will take you much further through pain than pills.

speak your mind.

Please express if you have any concerns, doubts, fears or whatever else thats on your mind. I cannot stress this enough.

This is a “forever thing.” There is no going back on this. Make sure you are comfortable with taking the next steps with your artist.
